Our Services

  • The lens of your eye grows lifelong. This process may ultimately cause clouding of the lens which blurs your vision — this is a cataract. Management of symptomatic cataracts is surgical, requiring removal of the clouded lens and placement of an artificial lens within the eye. Such implants, known as intraocular lenses, may be monofocal (set for near, far, or intermediate vision) toric, (to correct astigmatism) or multifocal, which can help focus vision at different distances without wearing glasses.

  • If you are diabetic your Primary Care physician or Endocrinologist will recommend a retinal eye exam every year. Diabetic Retinopathy is a disorder of the blood vessels of the retina occurring as a complication of diabetes mellitus and can lead to blindness. Our doctors will provide your diabetic eye exam and report findings to your PCP.

  • Dry eye happens when your eyes don't make enough tears to keep the cornea moist, or when your tears don't work correctly. This can make your eyes feel uncomfortable, and in some cases it can also cause vision problems.

You may be able to manage your dry eyes with use of nonprescription eye drops or other products that help lubricate your eyes. In some instances prescription eye drops are needed to adequately protect the cornea.

  • We provide complete eye exams for all ages. An eye examination is a series of tests performed to assess vision and ability to focus on and discern objects. It also includes other tests and examinations pertaining to the eyes. We will provide a prescription for eyeglasses and/or contact lenses.

  • Blepharoplasty is a type of surgery that removes excess skin from the eyelids. With age, eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess skin and fat can gather above your eyelids. This can cause sagging upper lids and can block part your vision.

Ptosis is when the upper eyelid droops over the eye due to weakness of the muscle that raises the upper eyelid. The eyelid may droop just a little, or so much that it covers the pupil (the black spot at the center of your colored iris that lets light in). Ptosis can limit or even completely block normal vision.

Your doctor may recommend surgery. During this procedure, the levator muscle is tightened. This will lift the eyelid up into the desired position.

  • Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that can cause vision loss and blindness by damaging the nerve in the back of your eye called the optic nerve. The symptoms can start so slowly that you may not notice them. The only way to find out if you have glaucoma is to get a comprehensive dilated eye exam.

The damage caused by glaucoma can't be reversed. But treatment and regular checkups can help slow or prevent vision loss, especially if you catch the disease in its early stages. Glaucoma is treated by lowering intraocular pressure.

  • YAG capsulotomy is a type of laser eye surgery that’s used to treat a specific complication of cataract surgery known as posterior capsule opacification (PCO). This problem is caused by clouding of a membrane behind the lens implant called the posterior capsule. The laser creates an opening in the capsule and restores clear vision. This clouding may occur weeks, months or years after cataract surgery.

A common type of laser surgery performed for open-angle glaucoma is called Laser Trabeculoplasty. The objective of the surgery is to help fluids drain out of the eye, reducing intra-ocular pressure that can cause damage to the optic nerve and loss of vision.

  • Macular degeneration is often called AMD, Age-related Macular Degeneration, and is a disease that can damage central vision. The macula is the central part of the retina, it can become affected by AMD leading to difficulty seeing. AMD is very common. It is a leading cause of vision loss in people 50 years or older. Two types of AMD are often discussed. The Dry type is more common and less severe than the Wet type which has fluid or bleeding occurring in the macula. Treatments are available for both that include a regimen of vitamins and minerals, modifying risk factors, and sometimes specialized testing can be very helpful. The more severe Wet form of AMD can often be helped with medicine injections.
